In short

Action Sports Clinic is a sports medicine and physiotherapy clinic in downtown Calgary that has been running for over 25 years. Joelle rebuilt its website in 2026, replacing a dated page-builder layout with a site organized around booking an appointment on a phone.

01

The problem

The clinic had been treating Calgary athletes for over two decades and had the reputation to match. The website didn't say so. It was a page-builder layout that had accumulated sections over the years, with a large red contact block doing most of the visual work and no clear route to an appointment.

On a phone — where nearly everyone was arriving — the layout stacked into a long scroll. Someone with a sore knee had to work to find out whether the clinic could help them and how to get in.

02

The approach

We agreed on one measure of success before any design happened: get a person from “my knee hurts” to a booked appointment, on their phone, without asking anyone a question first.

That meant leading with what the clinic actually treats in the words patients use, not the clinical ones. It meant the booking action following you down the page. And it meant using the clinic's own motocross and sport photography instead of stock — the character was already there, it just wasn't on the site.

The build

Built on WordPress so the team can add practitioners, update hours and post without needing me. The site is fast on mobile data, the treatment pages are separate so each can rank for its own search, and the Google Business Profile is connected properly to the new site.

One headline, one button, the phone number. Nothing else competing.

What changed

  • One clear booking action, visible from every screen on a phone
  • A page per treatment, so each can be found on its own search
  • Editable in-house — hours, staff and posts, without a developer
  • Google Business Profile connected and consistent with the site
